I think this might have originally been a Matamoros song. I can only get
this bit:-

"...La rumba no tiene raza, pa´la rumba no hay color, la rumba se baila
en masa así haya frío o calor...nadie se salva de la rumba, a cualquiera
lo lleva hasta la tumba".

Anyone got the rest? I've been trying to find this for ages, so help
would be much appreciated.

TIA,

Keith

Nadie se salva de la rumba
A qualquiera lo llevan pa la tumba

La rumba no tiene raza
Pa la rumba no hay color
La rumba se baila en masa
Aunque hay frio o calor
Cuando suenan los cencerros
Cualquiere marca el compas
Con esto bailan los perros
Con las dos patas de atras

[Hope that's a good start - the song is not Matamoros: the credit on the CD is
Siro Rodriguez]

Just checked - my CD is a Ray Barretto compilation and there is no
writer credit, but Rodríguez was actually a member of Trio Matamoros. I
thought it had been recorded by them originally, so I guess in a way
we're both right :-)

Fine, but I have the "original" CD, not compilation, and the credit is there.
So, you say Siro was a Trio Matamoros musico? It bugs me how many of those
oldies that are out of copywright no longer are credited. "DR" is all it gets
unless you find the LP from the 50's or 60's. What's the big deal in continuing
to give credit? Many of our classic novels are out of copywright yet we
continue to publish "The Merchant of Venice" by WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE.

Yes - here's the info on AllMusic.com:-

I agree - it's disrespectful to the original creator, and it makes it
harder for the likes of you and I to track down sources.
